This is exciting!  I'm finally getting to what the experts say is the single most important thing to have on a website - a blog.  So, welcome to the Perfect Breath Blog.

Correct Breathing Is Essential
The Perfect Breath Blog's goal is to demonstrate how correct breathing can make a world of difference in your life. Breathing is often taken for granted and medical professionals seldom talk about it. Breathing is seen much like our heart beating or our stomach digesting. It all just seems to work.

Breathing is much more important than most believe. In fact, correct breathing is essential not only to life but to a healthy life.  I hope to prove this to you over time.

Correct Breathing Is The Basis of A Healthy Life
Fifty plus years of medical research shows there is a direct connection between how we breathe and many common health problems.  Incorrect breathing messes with our body's chemistry.

The science of breathing tells us incorrect breathing can result in one or more of 150 different common diseases including asthma, insomnia, snoring, sleep apnea, allergies and many more. The same science tells us when we correct our breathing proper body chemistry is restored and symptoms of these diseases are relieved.  In many cases, the disease disappears.

Studies by Dr. Artour Rakhimov, a leading breathing researcher, says 90% of us breathe incorrectly. There may be modest flaws in our breathing mechanics or it may be fundamental breathing problems.

There are many different reasons our breathing becomes a problem.  Some of these are physiological;  topics of several blog entries to come. Other reasons stem from being taught to breath incorrectly by sport coaches, yoga instructors, and in some cases the medical community.

Correct Breathing Is Fundamental to Athletic Performance and Enjoyment
From my three year study of athletes, most understand the important role breathing plays in exercise.  Recreational athletes talk about how their breathing takes away from their exercise enjoyment. Competitive athletes often say their breathing holds them back from peak performance.

When athletes correct their breathing, the results are stunning.  Recreational athletes have a lot more fun, feel better and increase their endurance.  Competitive athletes see improved speed, endurance, VO2 Max and recovery times.  They also see fewer injuries and better quality training.

Turning Your Thinking About Breathing Upside Down
Here's a little secret to stimulate your thinking ... breathing big deep breaths is one of the worst things you can do. I know, this is so contradictory to what you've been taught but it's true.

At the beginning of my breath training programs I tell clients I'm about to turn everything they've learned about breathing upside down. They think I'm crazy but by the end of the training, and as their health improves, they realize being upside down is a good thing when it comes to breathing.

What You Can Expect From the Perfect Breath Blog
I look forward to writing to you, at least once per week, about how changing your breath can change your health.  I'll explain the hard science of breathing, showing how breathing leads to common health problems and how to reverse it.

I'll keep you posted on advancements being made with breathing including its latest application to the sports world.  I'll even tell you some interesting stories about the scientists and doctors who are working on breathing science.  And of course, I'll provide you with tips on how you can improve your breathing.

Often my clients talk about how changing their breath changed their lives for the better.  I hope this can happen for you too.  Please become a regular reader of the Perfect Breath Blog. Let me know what you think and if there are topics you'd like me to write about.

Thank you and breathe well.
